HNC CORE MODULES

CREATIVE INDUSTRIES INFRASTRUCTURE/WORKING IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

Creative Industries Infrastructure is a module which teaches the ins and outs of the music industry and what it involves such as copyright laws, professional music organisations, business techniques and networking events. This module benefits me as a live performer as it gives me the essential information needed to pursue a career in the creative industries. I need to know this information to understand the copyright laws and how they will protect my music. The professional music organisations help with funding, promoting and educating musicians so this knowledge also benefits me. The knowledge on networking events has also given me a better insight into the creative industries and how to create professional contacts.

FIRST STUDY: VOICE

My First Study class focuses on my main instrument, which is vocals. Through this module I have learned and developed my skills through singing in different genres. These genres include; Pop, Blues, Musical Theatre and Function Band pieces. Through this module I have also learned different breathing and warm-up techniques alongside building more confidence singing live. This module also helps classes such as Live Performance, DAW and Music Theory.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE FOR MUSICIANS

The Professional Practice For Musicians module helped me as a live performer as we initially learned about health and safety and the potential hazards in personal practice, a rehearsal space and the live performance. I was also educated in VAT, TAX, personal income taxation, HMRC and national insurance. This module also helped me as a live performer by building professional business contacts, basic accounts and press packs.

MUSIC THEORY

My knowledge from this module has helped me as a musician and a songwriter as I have gained a deeper understanding of written music and how to write it. I have also learned a deeper understanding of scales, dynamics, chords, concert pitch and transposition in which has helped me write my own music.
